Privacy Policy

Who we are

MonsterBuyBack.com is run by MonsterBuyBack LLC, doing business as Monster Mobile, a device shop in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, in business since 2011 ("MonsterBuyBack," "we," "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you get a quote, sell us a device by mail, or contact us, and how we use and protect it.

What we collect

Information you give us:

• Contact details: name, email address and phone number.
• Shipping address: the address we send your prepaid label to and return devices to.
• Device information: type, model, storage, carrier, condition and notes you enter. When your device arrives we also record its IMEI or serial number, test results, photos of its condition and any account or carrier locks.
• Payout details: the method you choose (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or check) and the handle, email, phone number or mailing address needed to pay you. We do not ask for or store bank account or card numbers.
• Messages: emails, texts and call notes between you and us.

Information collected automatically: your IP address (stored only as a one-way hash for spam and rate-limit protection), browser type, pages visited, the page you first landed on, the referring site and campaign tags (such as utm_source or gclid). Our site stores this first-visit information in your browser for 30 days so we know how you found us. We also use Google Analytics (see below).

How we use it

• Give you an offer, lock your price for 21 days and process your order.
• Create and email your prepaid shipping label and track your package.
• Inspect your device, check it against stolen, lost and blacklist records, and send any revised offer.
• Pay you by the method you chose.
• Send order updates by email and, if you agree, by text.
• Answer questions, prevent fraud and spam, and keep records the law requires.
• Understand which pages and ads bring visitors, so we can improve the site.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade it to anyone for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We share only what each service provider needs to do its job for us:

• GoHighLevel (LeadConnector): our customer relationship manager. It stores your contact details and order notes and sends our emails and texts.
• EasyPost and USPS: create and track your prepaid label. They receive your name, address and package details, and the insured value of your package.
• Payout providers: PayPal, Venmo, Zelle (through our bank) and our bank for mailed checks receive the details needed to send your payment.
• Google Analytics: measures site traffic using cookies and similar technology. Google's use of this data is covered by Google's privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
• Website hosting and email providers that store our site, order records and email.

We may also share information when the law requires it (for example, a subpoena or a law enforcement request about a stolen device), to protect our rights or prevent fraud, or as part of a sale or merger of our business.

Text messages (SMS)

We do not sell or share your mobile number or your SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the sharing described in this policy excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We text from the MonsterBuyBack business number. If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts (for example, by checking the text box on our forms or by texting us first), we may send you messages about your quote, order, shipping label, inspection, revised offer and payout. We send marketing texts only if you separately agree to them.

• Frequency: message frequency varies, based on your quote and order activity.
• Cost: msg & data rates may apply.
• Opt out: reply STOP to any text to stop receiving texts. We will confirm, then stop. Reply START to opt back in.
• Help: reply HELP for help or email info@monsterbuyback.com.
• Agreeing to texts is not a condition of selling to us.
• Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your device and your data

Please back up your device, sign out of iCloud, Google and Samsung accounts, turn off Find My, remove your SIM and memory cards, and erase the device before you ship it.

We do not look through photos, messages, apps or files. We test only what we need to grade the device. Every device we buy is fully erased with a factory reset, using the manufacturer's process, before it is resold or recycled. Devices we return to you are returned as received.

How long we keep it

• Order and payout records (including device IMEI/serial numbers): at least 7 years, for tax, accounting and stolen-property rules.
• Quote requests that never became orders: up to 2 years, then deleted or anonymized.
• Marketing contact lists: until you opt out or ask us to delete your information.
• Rate-limit and spam data: a few hours to a few days.
• Analytics data: as set in our Google Analytics retention settings.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is wrong;
• delete your information, unless we must keep it by law (for example, completed purchase records);
• stop marketing emails or texts.

To make a request, email info@monsterbuyback.com with "Privacy request" in the subject. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within 45 days. Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights. We will not treat you differently for using them. Email unsubscribe links and replying STOP to texts work at any time.

Security

Our site uses HTTPS encryption. Order records are stored outside the public website folder and access is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.

Children

Our services are for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top, and for important changes we will post a notice on the site or email active customers.
